choir
Here at St. Cuthbert’s we have an enthusiastic choir, which leads the singing in our services, and also performs occasional concerts.
In addition to the usual hymns we regularly perform anthems during services, normally for specific church festivals. We also do a Choral Evensong approximately once per quarter. From time to time (when requested) we also sing at weddings and funerals.
Our biggest event of the year is normally the “Carols by Candlelight” service, held just before Christmas. For this we have a mixture of popular congregational carols (like “Once in Royal David’s City”) and more unusual carols, sung by the choir.
We are always keen to welcome new members of any age. If you can already read music that’s of course an advantage, but it’s by no means essential – we’ll help you to learn! The choir meets regularly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for choir practice. If you are interested in joining the choir please contact myself or any member of the choir, or just come to a practice and see what it’s like!
